[ARCHIVED] Removing Barriers: Small and Medium Enterprises need to Speak Up

[ARCHIVED August 2, 2016 – This page will no longer be updated. Please see https://blog.theproposalcentre.ca//list-of-primers/ for current information on key Government of Canada and Government of Ontario contract vehicles]

An important consultation is being facilitated by PWGSC/Government of Canada in regards to their Acquisitions Policy on Small and Medium Enterprises. This policy seeks to reduce barriers and support fairer access to government opportunities for all suppliers and in particular small and medium enterprises (SMEs). SMEs are disproportionately affected by poor procurement practices and this policy helps to acknowledge and address barriers which exist. I encourage anyone with prior knowledge or experience (successful or otherwise) with selling to government to take a few minutes to participate in this survey.

The original notice from the Office of Small and Medium Enterprises is included below. If you are interested in reading up on the policy I can send you a copy or you may contact OSME directly at the email indicated in the note below.

    ——————————

The Office of Small and Medium Enterprises (OSME) is currently developing an Acquisitions policy and associated guideline on small and medium enterprises and federal procurement. As part of the policy development process, we are seeking input from suppliers on the draft policy and guidelines.

You can provide your comments by clicking on the attached link and filling out the very brief feedback form, or sending us an email by March 2nd, 2012.
