Save the trees, but what about the coyotes?

The RCMP is looking to line its Officers’ hoods with coyote fur which has prompted an exchange between animal rights groups and the fur industry over the practice and which is more environmentally sustainable – using synthetics or using Canis latrans; leading to this observation from the article writer:

“The only environmental and conservation stipulation in the RCMP’s new request encourages bidders to respect the federal government’s Policy on Green Procurement by submitting bids on double-sided, recycled paper and avoiding the use of colour inks, duotangs and binders.  It says nothing about coyotes.”

From now on every time I read that clause, I’ll think of coyotes.
